Spiritual warfare: when interference turns deliberate
Curses, hexes and directed ill-will are far rarer than frightened people believe, and considerably more common than sceptical people allow. Here is how to tell the difference.
Most of what I clear is accidental. Somebody died confused and attached themselves to the nearest warm thing. A door got opened by mistake. A cord formed in a relationship and nobody cut it.
Occasionally it is not accidental, and that is what this page is about.
I want to start by lowering the temperature, because this subject attracts a great deal of fear and a great deal of very poor advice. The overwhelming majority of people who contact me convinced they have been cursed have not been cursed. They are exhausted, they are frightened, they have been reading things at three in the morning, and something ordinary has been happening to them for a long time without a name. That is not a criticism. It is what being unwell and unexplained does to anybody.
What deliberate interference actually is
Stripped of the theatre, it is sustained hostile intention aimed at a specific person. It does not require a ceremony, a book, or anybody who knows what they are doing. It requires someone to want harm for you, consistently, over time, and to keep their attention on you while they do it.
That is why the most damaging cases I see almost never involve anyone who would describe themselves as practising anything. They involve a family member.
How it presents differently
An ordinary attachment tends to be diffuse. It drains, it disturbs sleep, it colours the mood. Directed interference has a shape to it, and the shape is the tell:
- It is targeted. One specific area of your life fails repeatedly (money, or relationships, or health) while everything else carries on more or less normally.
- It has timing. Setbacks arrive precisely when things start to improve, rather than at random. People describe it as being “allowed to get almost there”.
- It dates to a rupture. There is a fallout, a divorce, an inheritance dispute or a business separation, and the trouble starts within a few months of it.
- It follows you. Ordinary house-related problems stop when you move. This does not.
What it is not
It is not a run of bad luck, however long the run. It is not one difficult year. It is not a bad landlord, a redundancy and a broken boiler in the same quarter. Life supplies quite enough of that unassisted, and I would rather tell you so than take your money.
What can be done about it
The same thing that is done about anything else, and rather more straightforwardly than people fear. Directed work is located, cut, and returned to its source without malice. The point is disconnection, not retaliation. Then the field is repaired and closed properly so it cannot simply be re-established.
It is usually one session. Occasionally two, where the source is a living person still actively at it, in which case what needs building is a permanent boundary rather than a one-off clearing.
What I will not do
I will not send anything back at anyone. I will not work against a named person on your behalf. I will not do anything designed to harm, punish or frighten another human being, whatever they have done to you and however much they deserve it.
Partly this is ethics. Mostly it is practical: it does not work, and it binds the two of you together more tightly than the original problem ever did. Chen is unusually blunt on this point.
If you have read this and recognised the shape of it: targeted, timed, dating to a rupture, following you across house moves, then it is worth having looked at properly.
If you have read it and recognised nothing beyond a hard couple of years, that is genuinely good news, and the ordinary symptoms page is a better place to start.
