Understanding it
What is psychic surgery?
A plain explanation, written for the sceptic rather than the convert: what happens in a session, why it can be done at a distance, and what the research behind it actually says.
“Psychic surgery” conjures up a man in the Philippines appearing to pull chicken livers out of somebody’s abdomen. That is not what I do, I have never done it, and I would be as unimpressed by it as you are. Nothing is cut. Nothing is removed from your body. You keep your clothes on and you are usually several hundred miles away.
What we do is a blend of psychic surgery and spirit release therapy, the two worked together: locating things attached to a person’s energy field that did not originate there, and removing them.
What is actually being removed
Broadly, five kinds of thing, and most sessions turn up more than one:
- Attached spirits: people who died and did not move on, and have ended up carried by the living. Usually confused rather than malicious.
- Negative entities: things that were never human. Less common than the internet suggests and more common than I would like.
- Thought forms: structures built out of repeated fear, obsession or directed ill-will, which acquire enough shape to act on their own.
- Cords and hooks: live energetic connections to other people, draining in one direction.
- Blocks and damage: blocked chakras, tears in the auric field, and soul fragments lost to shock or grief.
How a remote session is possible at all
This is the question I get most, and it is a fair one.
The short answer is that consciousness is not located in the way a body is. The work is done on the energy field rather than the physical body, and the energy field is not bound by the distance between us. That is either obviously true to you or obviously nonsense, and I am not going to be able to argue you across that line in three paragraphs.
The longer answer is more useful: it is a protocol, not an intuition. There is a defined sequence: connect, assess, identify, release, repair, close, and it is the same sequence every time regardless of who is on the other end or where they are. That repeatability is what makes it teachable, and it is why the Spirit Release Academy can train other practitioners to do it rather than it dying with me.
Where the protocol came from
Between 2011 and 2021 I worked with Dr Terence Palmer PhD, whose doctorate is in the psychology of spirit possession and who has spent his career arguing that this material deserves proper investigation rather than either credulity or dismissal.
Over those ten years we developed and refined the Remote Spirit Release protocol. I contributed to his book The Science of Spirit Possession. The work was documented, structured and repeatedly tested, which is more than most things in this field can claim.
I want to be careful here, because overclaiming is the disease of this industry. This is not a clinical trial. It has not been through peer review of the kind a drug goes through. What it has had is a decade of scrutiny from an academic with no financial interest in flattering me, and a method that survived that scrutiny well enough to be taught.
What a session is like from your side
Usually: undramatic.
You book a slot, tell me briefly what is happening, and then get on with your day. You do not need to be present, still, meditating, or even aware of the time. Some people feel it: heat, pressure, a physical sense of being worked on, occasional tears. Plenty of people feel nothing whatsoever at the time.
Afterwards you get a written report the same day, saying what I found and what I did. Then it settles, over hours for some people and a fortnight for others. A small number feel briefly worse first, as things shift, before they feel better.
What it is not
- It is not a guaranteed outcome. Anyone promising you one is either lying or has not done this long enough.
- It is not a subscription. Most people need one session. If you need two I will say so; if you need none I will say that too.
The honest summary
If you are carrying something that nobody has been able to name, then this is a reasonable next question to ask. It costs one session to ask it.
The people who taught it
The Spirit Release Academy
I co-founded the Academy with Jonno Webster so that the protocol would outlive both of us. It runs a structured training pathway: a self-paced foundation level, then live practitioner levels, teaching safe, ethical clearing to people who intend to do this for others.
If you have read this page and your reaction was “I want to learn this” rather than “I need this done to me”, that is where to go next.
