What people tell us

Almost nobody arrives with one thing

Everyone who books tells us what prompted it, choosing from a list of things we see often. This page is what 438 people ticked, counted and put in order. The shapes that keep appearing are not the ones most people expect.

The first thing we notice

People arrive with a cluster, not a complaint

Ask someone what is wrong and they usually reach for one word. Tired. Anxious. Stuck. But when people are handed a list and told to tick whatever applies, almost everyone ticks four or five things.

Only about one in seven names a single thing. Everyone else is describing a cluster, and they often did not realise it until they saw the list.

That is worth knowing before you book, because it changes what a session is for. You are not coming to have one thing fixed. You are coming to have everything looked at, including the parts you had stopped mentioning because you assumed they were unrelated, or just how you are now.

Exhaustion never turns up alone

Being tired is the single most common reason people come to us. It is almost never the only reason, even when it is the one they lead with.

Also anxious or afraid 57%
Also not sleeping properly 54%
Also low in themselves 42%
Also suspect a curse or something sent to them 40%
Also troubled by thoughts that do not feel like theirs 39%
Also sense something attached to them 38%

Fewer than one in ten of the people who tell us they are exhausted tell us that and nothing else.

Read the list above from the top and you can watch it happen. The tiredness arrives with the fear. The fear arrives with the broken sleep. Underneath all three there is usually something that has been going on far longer than any of them, and that is the part people almost never lead with.

The surprising part

Some things keep arriving in pairs

A few combinations turn up far more often than chance would ever explain. These are the ones that made us look twice.

Anger and guilt travel together. This is the tightest pairing we see, turning up about five times more often than it should if the two were unrelated. People rarely mention both out loud. They tick both.

Thoughts that do not feel like your own arrive with the sense of something attached. Seventy six people ticked those two together. It is one of the most common pairings on the whole form, and it is the one people are most nervous about saying to another human being.

The heaviest cases cluster hard. When someone tells us they are dealing with something demonic, they are around three times more likely than average to also report activity in the house, the feeling of being attacked or controlled, voices, or marks on the body they cannot account for. These four rarely arrive one at a time.

Curses and attachments come as a set. Anyone who suspects something has been sent to them is far more likely to also sense something has stayed with them. Again, seventy six people ticked both.

None of this proves what causes what. It tells us which experiences keep company with each other, and that is genuinely useful, because it means the thing you are most embarrassed to mention is almost certainly not the only thing going on, and almost certainly not unusual.

What this is, and what it is not

This is what people told us before we started. It is not what we found in the session, and it is not a claim about how anyone felt afterwards. It is simply the shape of what people arrive carrying.

It is not a diagnosis, and it is not a checklist to measure yourself against. Recognising yourself in it does not confirm anything. Not recognising yourself in it does not rule anything out.

The list shapes the answers. People are ticking boxes we chose to put in front of them. Offer a different list and you would get a different picture, so treat the order as a rough guide rather than a finding.

Some of what people tick is also something a doctor treats. If that is true for you, your doctor is the right first call, and nothing on this page is a reason to stop treatment that is helping you. We are glad to work alongside it. We would never ask you to choose.

If today feels like more than you can carry, please talk to someone before you do anything else. Contact your doctor or your local emergency number. In the UK, Samaritans will listen at any hour, free, on 116 123. You do not have to be in crisis to call them.

If you want to know what these signs tend to mean, rather than how often they are reported, that is on the spiritual attachment symptoms page. If you have read enough and want us to look, you can book an appointment.
