About Andy
My spiritual story
Up until the age of 34 I had never realised a spiritual dimension existed. I had never been religious, and I didn’t believe in ghosts, entities, extraterrestrial energy or any of that business in the slightest.
Then something happened that turned all of that upside down. This is how I went from sceptic to psychic surgeon, in my own words.
- Working with my spirit guide Chen since 2004
- Helped found the Unity of UK Psychic Surgeons
- Ten years of research with the late Dr Terence Palmer PhD
- Co-founded the Spirit Release Academy with Jonno Webster
- Author, with Chen, of Chen’s Spiritual and Psychic Teachings

Haunted house, ghosts, really?
After meeting my now wife, I moved into a new house. Little did I realise my life was about to get very traumatic.
After about four weeks I started to notice that things didn’t feel right at all. There were noises at night, things had a habit of disappearing (especially my car keys), and the hairs on our arms stood to attention as we walked through the house. Lights went on and off on their own, and the heating found a will of its own even when the timer was switched off at the main control.

One night I woke to find the room freezing cold, and as I opened my eyes I knew instantly that all was not well. The foot of my bed was literally two feet off the floor, and I was looking at the wall behind the headboard instead of the ceiling. For the first time in my life I felt what can only be described as real terror. I screamed “put me down and get out of my room”, and with that the bed dropped onto the laminate floor with a crash. The temperature went straight back to normal, as if someone had closed a freezer door.
I lay there all night with the duvet over my head and the light on, shaking, not sure whether it had really happened or whether I had been dreaming. If it was a dream, I didn’t want another one. When the sun came up I could see the bed was no longer in the same position, and the castors had been knocked to one side. King size beds are heavy, and moving one on your own is no mean feat, so any doubt left me instantly. It had really happened, and the realisation sent a shiver down my spine.
Things moved quickly from there. Whatever had taken up residence in my house had made me its target. I slept with the lights on in the bedroom and on the landing, but I could still see shadows moving under the bedroom door every night and hear the most horrendous sounds. It’s fair to say I thought I was going mad.
As the weeks passed I grew more and more tired. Everywhere I walked in the house at night I felt followed, and not one room felt safe to be in on my own. My health started to suffer and work became really tricky. Worst of all, I couldn’t talk to my friends about it for fear of ridicule.
My wife and I would talk on the phone until the early hours, then I’d hop into bed as fast as I could, still on the phone, hoping for a good night’s sleep and asking for protection from anything positive out there. Time and again I’d wake to see the sheets moving and know something was trying to get into bed next to me. My skin would crawl. I knew this was very negative energy, that it was after me, and that it wasn’t just going to go away.
3am, the witching hour?

One night I woke at exactly 3am, wet with sweat. It was summer and already warm, but the house was intensely hot. I could hear the central heating pump running, and the radiator in my room was red hot. I ran downstairs to the programmer and, to my amazement, its light was off. The heating shouldn’t have been on at all. Surely these things only happen in Hollywood films!
I opened the windows, switched off the power to the pump and lay in bed praying for help, and bear in mind I’m not remotely religious. Things felt like they were escalating, so I put the house on the market and stayed out whenever I could.
Psychics, what do they do?
Around this time my wife asked for help from a lovely psychic called Christina, who often came into the hair salon where my wife worked as a receptionist. Christina spent a few weeks working with us to clear the house of the nasty energies it held, and we visited her regularly for lessons in spiritual protection, so we could understand this new world and protect ourselves from an unseen enemy.
Over a few months Christina removed around 23 different spirits from the house, and what she described as a very nasty banshee. That was the entity that had made our lives miserable for six months, and taught us both what real terror feels like.
From that point on I decided to use all my spare time to learn about the world we had been exposed to. Books arrived from Amazon, and every second hand bookshop we passed was scoured for anything about the unseen. Bear in mind that six months earlier I would have been at the front of the queue laughing at any talk of ghosts, spirits and aliens.
My wife kept saying all she wanted was a normal life like everybody else, but I had a feeling “normal” would never be part of our lives again, and to this day it hasn’t been. The difference now is that what we went through is being used to help others. I believe you only fully understand how negative energy can affect people and places once you have experienced it first hand, and our initiation into the unseen has been invaluable for the work we do now. Looking back, we laugh at some of the things we tried, but like everything in life, learning the hard way gives you the best grounding in your subject.
Spiritual training, and meeting Chen
As the years went on I joined various psychic circles, and my path led me into healing, starting with Reiki. While I was sitting a Reiki master course, I was introduced to a new spirit guide who called himself Chen. He explained that he would like to work with me on a type of healing he called psychic surgery.
He wanted to start practising coming into my physical body while I was in a meditative trance at my regular psychic circles. That training went on for about a year before he could fully come through, take control of my body and speak through me. The rest, as they say, is history.
How the work happens

Chen is still my principal guide and spirit surgeon, although he works with teams of other surgeons and guides depending on what is being worked on. Rather like our own hospitals, each surgeon has their own speciality, and during an operation there is a theatre full of helpers supporting the work. It is the same in spirit.
When I start working I enter a meditative state, place protection around myself and the client, and communicate with my guides. They explain what they plan to do, and I give them access to use my physical body for the work. I am still able to talk and I am fully aware of what is happening. Sometimes they show me what they are doing, which can be somewhat disconcerting, and at other times Chen takes over completely and speaks directly to the client.
Chen is happy to answer questions on any topic, and often gives clients interesting insights into their previous lives, especially where something they are experiencing now carries on from a past life.
Helping others
I now speak to people all over the world through this website, and I have helped many of them understand what they are going through. Everything makes more sense once you understand what you are dealing with, and there are people who can help. So please don’t feel alone. If something like this is happening to you, a spiritual health check is the simplest first step.
The other half of it
Jayne
Jayne runs the business from behind the scenes, and very little would happen without her.
Social media, emails, finance and accounts, and managing our team all sit with Jayne. It is the side of the work most people never see, and it is what lets me give the sessions my full attention.
She also co-leads the protection and development programmes and works alongside me in one-to-one sessions. Where I tend towards the blunt and the practical, she is the one who notices what somebody has not said yet, and the teaching is far stronger for having both.
When I am in trance, Jayne is the one working with Chen. You can see this most Sunday nights on our Ask Chen live stream, where she puts your questions to him and he answers them live.
If you have ever had an email back from us that arrived faster or kinder than you expected, there is a decent chance it was Jayne. There are a few more of us than most people realise, and you can meet the team here.
The work since
What the twenty years actually consist of
Ten years with Dr Terence Palmer PhD
From 2011 to 2021 I worked alongside Dr Palmer, whose doctorate is in the psychology of spirit possession and who has spent his career arguing this material deserves proper investigation. Together we developed the Remote Spirit Release protocol: a defined, repeatable sequence rather than an intuition.
I contributed to his book The Science of Spirit Possession. The full account of those ten years is here.
Co-founding the Spirit Release Academy
The Academy exists so that the protocol outlives the people who built it. Founded with Jonno Webster, it runs a structured training pathway from a self-paced foundation through to live practitioner certification.
Teaching it properly matters. Half-learned, this work does harm.
Writing with Chen
Chen’s teachings were taken down through automatic writing over a period of years and published as an ebook. The subjects range from chakras and meditation through to consciousness, religion and planetary change, and he is still adding to them.
The podcast, and the Sunday Q&A
Chen answers questions live most Sundays, and has done for years. The podcast collects the material for people who cannot make the live sessions, and there is a free thump the grid meditation open to anyone.
How I work
Four things I will always do
Tell you to see a doctor first
Every time, and I will not be talked out of it. Medicine first, always.
Say if I found nothing
A clear report is a real result. I have no interest in inventing findings to justify a fee.
Not promise you an outcome
Nobody honest in this field can. What I promise is the session and a truthful account of it.
