Sleep Problems

The night is the hardest time to be alive

This experience is often interpreted as a form of partial astral projection, in which the spiritual or energetic self has temporarily disengaged from the physical body. This may occur naturally during deep sleep, vivid dreaming, or altered states of consciousness, or it may be triggered when the body enters sleep before the mind has fully disengaged. In some belief systems, it is also suggested that external or negative energies can interfere with this natural process, creating a sense of disconnection between consciousness and the physical form.

During such moments, the individual may feel fully awake and aware of their surroundings yet unable to move or speak. This sensation can be deeply unsettling, as the mind is alert while the body remains in a sleep-locked state. The feeling is often described as being “stuck” outside the body or unable to return fully into it.

To re-enter the physical body, it is important to remain calm and focused. Fear can intensify the experience and prolong the sensation of paralysis. Instead, the dreamer can consciously call upon their spirit guides, higher self, or trusted spiritual support to assist with reintegration. Another effective technique is visualisation, imagining oneself gently but firmly falling, sinking, or snapping back into the physical body. Many people find that visualising a sudden downward movement, such as dropping back into the chest or heart area, can quickly restore physical control.

Maintaining emotional composure is key. When fear is replaced with calm intent, the individual regains authority over the experience. Positive intention acts as an anchor, allowing the energetic body to realign with the physical form. Once this reconnection occurs, movement returns almost immediately, and normal bodily control is restored.

The sensation itself can be frightening, particularly for those encountering it for the first time. Many people compare it to descriptions of coma-like awareness, where sounds and external stimuli are perceived clearly, yet the body remains completely unresponsive.

This is where the term “sleep paralysis” originates: consciousness is present, but physical motion is temporarily unavailable.

Protection for Sleep Paralysis

Creating a protective environment before sleep can significantly reduce the likelihood of sleep paralysis episodes. One widely used method involves sea salt and protective herbs, which are traditionally believed to absorb and neutralise unwanted energies. These can be lightly sprinkled around the bedroom, near doorways, windows, and particularly around the bed itself. This practice can be repeated weekly to maintain a sense of energetic cleanliness and protection within the space.

In addition to physical measures, mental and emotional preparation before sleep plays an important role. Affirmations spoken aloud or silently before bedtime help to program the subconscious mind, reinforcing boundaries and setting clear intentions for rest and protection during sleep. Over time, this practice conditions the mind to remain guarded against interference while the body is in a vulnerable resting state.

I invoke my spirit guides, CHEN and angelic guidance to provide a peaceful and protected sleep state for me.

Repeating affirmations like this nightly can promote a sense of safety, calm the nervous system, and strengthen the connection between conscious intent and subconscious awareness. Combined with grounding, visualisation, and a consistent bedtime routine, these practices can help transform sleep paralysis from a fearful experience into one that is understood, managed, and ultimately prevented.
